Born and raised in Hawaii, Cindy moved to California after high school and received her Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of San Francisco and her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Southern California.
Cindy has always been interested in movement, exercise and hands on treatment and how it can be used to restore health early on as a pre-med student in college, initially to be on the path of osteopathic medicine as well as her history of performing dance and working as a massage therapist. After being exposed to physical therapy in college, she decided this would be the career for her and continued to have a desire to have a greater understanding of whole body health from the inside and outside.
She continued to study more about movement science, chronic pain and disability, and after having two children, her studies also went into pelvic health, pre and post-partum physical therapy. She also became a certified Pilates instructor in 2021 and graduated from ConnectTherapy Series in 2022-23.
ConnectTherapy has helped her culminate all of which she has learned and continues to guide her desire to learn more, in order to recognize other influences that contribute to how one moves and feels. ConnectTherapy has helped her to recognize regions that are the underlying cause for one’s pain that are called “drivers.” The following link: https://synergyphysiopilates.com/unique-approaches/connecttherapy/ will explain more about what ConnectTherapy is and about Dr. Linda-Joy (LJ) Lee who is the creator of the method. The combination of Pilates and ConnectTherapy has helped her learn to teach others how movement can be medicine and also helping others to have more confidence moving in their body.
After being in California for over 20 years, Cindy has moved back home to Hawaii and loves having her two children being immersed in the spirit of Ohana. She is passionate and eager to share ConnectTherapy with Hawaii and looks forward to being connected to the island, nature, food, and people again.
